Last Sunday, Pego hosted the Second Conference of the Regional League of the Xarxa Esportiva de la Marina Alta at its Pujol facilities. A celebration that brought together more than 250 girls and boys from Dénia, Benissa, Benitatxell or Calp, among others, as well as those of Pego. All of them competed in various athletics categories, from youngest to youth.
The athletes participated in three competition modalities: long jump, speed race and middle distance. With regard to the representation of the pegolín locals, 40 athletes of different ages, members of the Escola d'Atletisme Dorsal 19, participated.
Among them, the participation of Ana Caravana, who was proclaimed the winner in the three tests in the female cadet category, and that of Laia Mestre (female juvenile), first in the middle distance test, third in the sprint and jump race, stood out. of length.
The Councilor for Sports, Raül Tamarit described the day as “successful, the Pujol sports venue was full from early in the morning. Fathers, mothers and especially the boys and girls who participated, had an excellent day of sport”. The mayor highlighted the participation of the boys and girls of the Escola d'Atletisme Dorsal 19, "it is a pride that so many boys and girls are interested in this sport, of constant improvement." He also thanked the members of the Dorsal 19 Club "for the work they carried out during the celebration of the sporting event, as well as the municipal workers, who have organized the entire day."
