The Pego partygoers demonstrated last summer their awareness of recycling and caring for the environment. This is reflected in the 6.300 kilos of glass containers that the 13 rows of Moors and Christians recycled during the week of celebrations. This is reflected in the data from the 'La Reconquista del Vidrio' campaign, an initiative launched by Ecovidrio, a non-profit entity in charge of managing the recycling of glass containers in Spain.
On average, each party member recycled a total of 11,01 kilos of glass containers in the containers assigned to the campaign. Pego participates in the 'Dolçaines' category, which includes municipalities with less than 1.000 festeros and festeras.
"We want to thank the involvement of the members of the filaes who demonstrated that the party can be combined with recycling tasks," says the Councilor for Urban Waste, Ricardo Sendra.
During the holidays, a team of educators has carried out actions to raise environmental awareness in the street to make the public aware of the recycling of glass containers and of the importance of promoting sustainable festivities.
La filà bedouines has been the winner of the draw for the beverage dispenser made of glass and personalized with the image of the campaign. With this gesture, Ecovidrio "rewards the effort made to achieve more sustainable and environmentally friendly festivities," says the mayor.
From Ecovidrio they also highlighted the involvement of all the filaes when participating in the campaign, "all collaborated with recycling, distributing merchandising and participating in the surveys of the Ecovidrio representatives who were during the holidays explaining said campaign".
