The rain on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 17, brought hope to the fire that has burned the heart of the Marina Alta. A rain that has continued during the night in parts of the region and that has allowed the Center for the Coordination of Emergencies of the Valencian Community to confirm that at 06:40 in the morning there were no flames on any of the fronts. The perimeter is more stable and now everything is waiting for the reconnaissance tour that the Fire Department must do to determine the real state of the fire.
During the night there was a small reproduction of the fire in the area of Benimassot, el Comtat, although in the early morning it was already under control. For this reason, at dawn 26 Alicante Fire Brigade crews, 6 Generalitat Forest Fire Brigade units, 6 fire engines and 4 brigades and two València Fire Brigade foremen continued to work.
Recognition of the area
Now, during the morning, the aerial means will check and control the affected perimeter. These will be four media from the Generalitat Valenciana, one from the Alicante Fire Department, one from the Region of Murcia and another from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.
The neighbors who had been evicted in recent days were finally able to return to their homes in stages last night. At first they were those from Vall de Gallinera, Pego and l'Atzúbia, although, later, from the command post they confirmed that all the others could also do it.
In this way, the two Red Cross shelter areas prepared to serve the evicted people, one in Pego and the other in Muro d'Alcoi, began the dismantling yesterday. From the City Council of Pego, the residents located there were informed to begin the return home gradually so as not to crowd everyone on the way back.
At this time there are still closed roads waiting to be cleaned, since it is common to find stones on the roads.
