The Ondara Athletics Club and the Sports Department of the Ondara City Council have organized the XIV Gegant de Pedre (GDP XIV) mountain walk and race for Sunday, February 18, 2024, which will run through the Serra de Segària. The walk can be done walking or running through a natural area of great beauty. Runners will be able to choose between running 13,5 or 21 kilometers, while for walkers the walk will be 13,5 kilometers.
The evidence has been presented at the Ondara City Council by the Sports Councillor, Lluís Fornés; the representatives of the Ondara Athletics Club, Miguel Moreno and Pep Giner; the Sports technician, Ana Ribes, and the Local Police officer, Guarde Torres. It should be noted that the XIV Stone Giant will be included in the VI La Marina Trail Circuit, which is made up of 14 races in 14 towns (Forna Benigembla, Xaló, Gata de Gorgos, Calp, Callosa, Polop de la Marina, Pedreguer Ondara, Orba and the Vall de Laguar, Pego, Vall de Gallinera, Senija, and Confrides). Some races that began in October 2023 and will end in May of this year 2024.
Registration for the XIV Gegant de Pedra can be done online on the mychip.es website, and also in person at the Allianz insurance office in Ondara. The registration fee is 20 euros to run 21 km, and 15 euros to walk or run 13,5 km.
The start will be at 08:30 on Sunday, February 18 for runners who do 21 kilometers (elevation 1185m); at 09:00 a.m. for runners doing 13,5 kilometers (600m elevation difference), and at 9:10 a.m. for walkers (13,5 km, 600m elevation difference). The start and finish will be in the Segària Municipal Park.
The participants will cover the entire Sierra de Segària, passing through the municipalities of Ondara, Beniarbeig, Benimeli, Ràfol d'Almúnia and El Verger. Participants in the XIV Gegant de Pedra will be able to collect their race numbers at Decathlon Ondara on Saturday, February 17. They can also be collected at the starting line (Parque de Segària) on Sunday, February 18 from 07:30 a.m.
The XIV Gegant de Pedra is organized by the Ondara Athletics Club and the Ondara City Council, with the collaboration of Civil Protection, Local Police, the Ondara Hiking Center and the City Councils of Benimeli, Beniarbeig, Ràfol d'Almúnia and El Verger .
