Juan Antonio Fernández and Andrea Abad win the VII Volta a Peu de Benitatxell

08 2024 April - 17: 39

Last Saturday afternoon, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell became the scene of the great sports festival with the VII Volta a Peu of the municipality, in which around 1.000 athletes participated, including adults and boys and girls. Juan Antonio Fernández, from Club Atletismo Benidorm, was declared the absolute winner, reaching the finish line at minute 29'18. In the women's category, Andrea Abad, from the Publidom Athletics Club, won, crossing the finish line at minute 33'20.

The victory was also celebrated by the Benitatxell Multiesport Club. In the local classification, Victoria Noguera, Vanessa Yuste, Monika Domok and Nina Dos Santos were on the women's podium, and Julián López, Vicente José Pastor, Javi Femenia, Damián Berenguer and Alfons Padilla were on the men's podium.

The start was to the rhythm of the local anthem "Jo soc mitjafava", confetti was shot with an air cannon that dyed the beginning of the route blue and yellow (the colors of the local club). In addition, there was music (two batucadas and the Music School Bandeta) at different points of the circuit to encourage the athletes.

A circuit between vineyards of 8,4 kilometers was chosen, with a slightly modified route compared to the previous edition. The first meters passed through the streets of the historic center, where the finish line was also. Fortunately there were no incidents to report thanks to the organization of the Multiesport Club. And the role of the security forces, including the Local Police, Civil Protection volunteers and DYA Valencia ambulances, was crucial for everything to go smoothly.

Boys and girls were also protagonists of this edition. They brought along a large number of family members who gathered to cheer on their little ones and enjoy this sporting spectacle. About 200 little athletes competed with enthusiasm. Remarkable was the triumph in the Youth category of the promising Poblero athlete Marco García, who despite belonging to the Baleària Diànium Athletics Club, on Saturday wore the Multiesport Benitatxell shirt to champion the Poblero pride. He crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 10'27. The small town athletes Aurora Román (Female Barrufets) and Enzo García (Men's Barrufets) also took the podium.

This fifth edition has exceeded participation expectations. The public took to the streets to cheer on the runners in a tough reference test that has already been baptized as the Tourmalet de la Marina.
