On December 14, the councilor of Pedreguer Municipal Services, Pepe Cabrera Puigcerver, and the spokesperson for the City Council, Ferran Lloret Morell, attended the conference on High Efficiency Models in Municipal Waste Management that was held in Olvera, Cádiz . Imitating the initiative of those from Pedreguer, the community of Sierra de Cádiz, in Andalusia, wanted to count on their presence as a step prior to the implementation of the 'Door to Door' Urban Solid Waste collection system in their territory.
In this way, Pedreguer's representatives came to share their experience and present the system adopted to resolve all the doubts of the people who attended. In the words of the association's environmental technician, "this day could not be organized without having representatives from Pedreguer, because they are an example of courage and avant-garde".
At the meeting, the councilors of Pedreguer shared a table with different representatives, such as the head of the Environmental Quality and Climate Change Service of the Junta de Andalucía, the General Director of Sustainability of the province of Granada and the president of the Sierra de Cadiz, among others.
Those attending the conference, technicians and political personnel from many areas of Andalusia appreciated and valued the Pedreguer MSW collection project very positively. This collects waste separately in each house, achieving in a few weeks the recycling levels required by European regulations.
During the conclusions of the day, the members of the Sierra de Cádiz commonwealth reaffirmed their intention to pick up the Pedreguer model to implement it, definitively, in the same way in the towns that make up the commonwealth.
For their part, the people of Pedreguerín have assured that "the invitation to this conference is another example that the door-to-door collection system in Pedreguer works, with very good results and is becoming an international benchmark that is receiving subsidies at a European level". .
