On June 3, the Publicació Festera will take place, an event that since 2022 marks the beginning of the Moros i Cristians de Pego. This is the first festive act that welcomes the festivities, filling the town with flags and banners typical of the festivities and the filaes.
In this event, music takes on a leading role, becoming the guiding thread of an afternoon of fraternity between the different comparsas that walk together through the main streets of the municipality, culminating in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Starting at 20:30 p.m., the square will be filled with festeros, festeras and the general public, to enjoy the celebration. Two music bands will liven up the event, parading in parades from Plaza del Mercat to the epicenter of this Publicació Festera.
Once the bands enter the square, the speech of this year's publisher will begin, whose name will be kept secret until that day, followed by the symbolic delivery of the keys to the three doors of the Villa Real de Pego . This exciting moment will take place from the balcony of the Town Hall. Once the poster for this new edition of the Moros i Cristians festivities has been unveiled, the two bands present will perform the famous pasodoble Vila de Pego, by Master Jose Albero.
To the rhythm of the music, two special squads of publishers and publishers will be formed, made up of two representatives from each comparsa, and led by a sergeant from each side. As a novelty introduced this year, the positions of sergeant fall on the ranks that hold said position. Thus, the Christian Sergeant will be Josep Oltra Bordes de Almogávares, Filà Captain 2023, while on the Moorish side it will be Alex Seguí Ruíz de Al-Hagamba Muça, Filà Ambassador 2023. Under his command and direction, the festeras will occupy the posts of the publishing squads of 2023, promising an unforgettable experience full of joy and tradition.
