This morning the deputy for the Environment and Energy, Miguel Ángel Sánchez, visited Gata de Gorgos. During his visit he has toured some of the actions and projects related to sustainability, energy efficiency and care for the environment that the Diputación de Alicante is carrying out in the town.
Sánchez has met with the mayor of Gata de Gorgos, Josep Signes Costa, at City Hall to address some of the projects undertaken, such as the community composting center, which they have also visited and in which the provincial institution has invested 14.000 euros .
The deputy has also reviewed other investments that the area has made in the municipality over the last four years, such as the 74.397 euros aimed at promoting sustainable mobility and the reduction of atmospheric pollution that have materialized with the supply of two 100% electric vehicles and the drafting of the PMU.
Likewise, between 2019 and 2022, the Diputación de Alicante has allocated, among others, 10.000 euros to the control of diptera (flies and mosquitoes) and the sterilization of urban colonies of cats without owners and more than 5.000 euros to the supply of benches and litter bins for equipping parks, gardens or recreation areas.
Within the framework of the Energy Savings Plan, the institution will also promote, through a grant of 60.000 euros, the installation of a recharging point for electric vehicles with two 22 KW sockets in the car park located between the sports hall and the municipal swimming pool (Calle de les Sorts, S/N) and the improvement of public lighting in the Old Town, Plaza Nova and the streets of Quartel and dels Serrillars, by replacing the current lights with others equipped with LED technology and the possibility self-regulation of centralized and programmed flow.
