August 01 from 2023 - 18: 04

The Provincial Council of Alicante held last Friday, July 21, 2023, the constitutive session of the provincial corporation for the 2023-2027 legislature, in which the popular Toni Pérez, mayor of Benidorm, was elected as the new president of the institution.

As for the corporation as a whole, a total of 31 deputies make up the new provincial entity representing four political groups: 16 from the Popular Party; 13 from the PSOE; 1 from Compromís and 1 from Vox. In this sense, the mayor of Ondara and in turn regional secretary of the PSPV-PSOE, José Ramiro, took office in the session in which the election by vote for the Presidency took place. The event was attended by more than 450 guests, including the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, as well as deputies, senators, mayors and representatives of the economic, social, academic, cultural and military spheres of the province.

Regarding the appointment and new position of the mayor of Ondara, it is important to remember that on June 14 the executive of the PSPV-PSOE of Alicante decided, among the regional proposals, the list of the 13 councilors who would be the future members of the group socialist within the provincial body. On the part of the judicial parties, José Ramiro was the deputy designated for the Marina Alta region within a list that was unanimously ratified by the socialist executive. Ramiro thus succeeds the councilor of DéniaÓscar Mengual, who was the provincial representative of the socialists in the Alicante Provincial Council during the last legislature.

Mayor of Ondara since 2017, José Ramiro took office for the third time as mayor of the municipality on June 17, 2023 in the act of constitution of the new Ondarense Municipal Corporation for the 2023-2027 legislature. Computer Engineer and Secondary School Teacher, in the last legislature the mayor of Ondara already bet on the interests of the region as President of the MACMA (Regional Commonwealth of the Marina Alta), an entity that he still chairs in office. For the new deputy, the appointment "is an opportunity and at the same time a greater responsibility to continue working for our neighbors with the same perseverance as always and with clear objectives of public will and orientation."
