The primary sector of the Marina Alta has left its mark this morning, covering almost its entire geography in a tractor unit called from Benissa to Dénia. Farmers, ranchers, beekeepers and fishermen were summoned in protest against the difficult conditions they are going through, at a time when their daily work is not rewarded and local purchasing becomes more necessary than ever.
Since early in the morning, about fifty tractors gathered and a hundred representatives of the sector in the region have asked citizens to base their consumption on local products and to the administrations to facilitate the procedures and bureaucracy to carry out this essential activity, both in the Marina Alta and in the rest of the country.
The march has highlighted the challenges they face, focusing on the lack of profitability and the risk of farm abandonment. Local producers have noted that high production costs often exceed market prices, exacerbated by import competition and a growing administrative burden. "We are faced with products that come from countries where the regulations are less strict than in Spain, which puts us at a disadvantage," they highlighted.
The Civil Guard has supervised the march to guarantee its safety and order during the blockade of the National-332 and the subsequent circulation of the tractor unit. In the previous video, citizens of Dénia have recorded the arrival of the demonstration in the city.
