The maritime sector of the Marina Alta is open to more than 1.000 young people in search of generational change

The campaign "The Maritime Sector in the Marina Alta: an opportunity for the future", of the Punt Nàutic, has visited 14 of the 16 secondary schools in the Marina Alta, counting the IES and concerted centers, during this school year.

This campaign, demanded by the same territorial agents, aims to bring the benefits of the maritime sector in all its aspects and their job profiles with greater demand each year to the young people of our territory.

Specifically, this line of action was born as a result of the work tables organized by the Punt Nàutic with Marinas and Fishermen's Guilds in November 2020, and at the request of the regional maritime sector itself. However, due to the health restrictions imposed by Covid-19, it had not been possible to execute it until this year.

In this first edition 2021-22, a total of 81 talks have been carried out where more than 1000 students from the region with ages close to labor incorporation have been able to learn about the different maritime slopes, inherent sectors and the great occupational potential that they represent. in our territory.

Thus, the talks were organized into two clearly differentiated types of sessions. On the one hand, the Punt Nàutic technical team led the talks focused on recreational sailing, in which contents such as nautical leisure and its sports aspect, repair and maintenance of boats, hospitality and tourism or the main qualifications necessary for navigate or work on board in our territory. Likewise, the importance of the nautical infrastructures and entities that operate in our territory was highlighted.

Fishermen in search of generational change

On the other hand, with the aim of promoting generational change in the fishing sector, the fishermen themselves, accompanied by the Punt Nàutic team, were in charge of bringing this world closer to the institutes of the territory.

Amadeu Ros, vice president of the Traditional Barques Association of Xàbia, and Juan Antonio Sepulcre and Paco Català, senior patrons of the fishing brotherhoods of Dénia and Calpe respectively, highlighted the importance of the fishing fleet in the Marina Alta, the different fishing gear, as well as the necessary requirements to embark as a sailor.

For more than four years now, the Punt Nàutic de Creama has been acting as a management platform for projects framed within the maritime sector of the Marina Alta and whose purpose is to provide support to the different coastal towns through innovative initiatives that stimulate the great potential economic latent in the sector, as well as the revitalization and strengthening of its more traditional side.

The Punt Nàutic is a project of pacte'MA and CREAMA, as the technical secretariat of the Pact, and is developed within the Avalem Territori program, subsidized by LABORA Valencian Employment and Training Service and by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.
