Last Friday, May 5, the Xaló socialist group held the presentation of its candidacy for the municipal elections on May 28. The event took place in the assembly hall of the Xaló Town Hall, and was attended by a large number of neighbors who wanted to support the candidate Juan Terentí Vives.
The socialist candidate for mayor of Xaló spoke about the key points of his team's project: work for the people, transparency, active listening and governing for all the residents of Xaló. He recounted his link to the town: born in the town, married in the town, founder, with other xaloneros, of the town's basketball team, participant in the various cultural and social events of the town. For this reason, he has decided to stand in the local elections on May 28 as a candidate for mayor of Xaló for the PSOE, due to his availability, his concerns and his roots in the municipality of Xaló.
The act had an emotional part, where Ventura Fullana began by reading a poem entitled 'A paper rose' by Gemma Pasqual, the author's tribute poem to the great Valencian poet Vicent Andrés Estellés. The recitation was accompanied on the guitar by Ximo Jordà, the candidate for the Xalona list.
This poem, through the metaphor of a rose that passes from hand to hand, tells us about the freedoms that did not exist at the time of the dictatorship, and how this desire for change symbolizes the social advances that have been achieved since the arrival of democracy, many of them thanks to the Socialist Party.
In the act they intervened, first of all, as its driver, who was a candidate for mayor in 2007 and 2011, Nando Mengual, who taking that Paper rose who is called in the poem, spoke of the progress made by the Socialist Party since it returned to the institutions in democracy. The regional secretary, mayor of Ondara and candidate for mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, also intervened, transferring his support to the Xaló socialist group, and continued explaining the social changes achieved thanks to the effort and work of the PSOE.
Marbel Avellà, candidate in 2019, explained the difficulty she has had in this last legislature; "I have been alone in the opposition".
For his part, the mayor, Juan Terentí, concluded the act with the basic points of his program: transparency,
work for the town, and active listening to all the neighbors of the town, and he was calling all the members of his team. At the end of the act, all the candidates were able to talk and listen to the attendees.
