The fire in Cala Llebeig is considered controlled and 120 evicted people return home

30 2023 April - 09: 10

The forest fire that started on the afternoon of Saturday, April 29 in the vicinity of Cala Llebeig between Benitatxell and Teulada Moraira had a favorable evolution last night, according to the latest information from the Center for the Coordination of Emergencies of the Generalitat Valenciana. The flames would have affected some 18 hectares of land, in the absence of confirming the data once the intervention was completely completed.

The Firefighters report that at 07:40 today two aerial means have been incorporated after their withdrawal last night due to lack of visibility. The Alpha-2 helicopter is still working, while the A-55 plane has withdrawn from the area at 08:38 hours. The authorities confirm the fire stabilization at 08:00 on Sunday. In no case does this mean that the fire is completely controlled or extinguished.

For its part, the Teulada Moraira City Council, at around 03:00 in the morning, informed those people with homes near the fire that they could return to their homes. Finally, they could not do it as a precaution.

The part of the consistory was given after the meeting held at the Advanced Command Post (PMA) between the regional secretary for Security and Emergencies, José María Ángel, the head of the PMA and the mayor Teulada Moraira, Raúl Llobell. Thus, night came completely with the fire active, although it presented a favorable evolution and with practically no flames in the perimeter.

80 ground troops kept working through the night consolidating the perimeter. In addition, drone surveillance flights were carried out to detect hot spots in the affected area and possible reproductions. The night work has made it possible to confirm that there were no significant incidents.

As of 09:00 a.m., 100 ground troops are still in the extinction work and 120 people are still evicted for the moment.

UPGRADE - At 11:00 hours Ground troops are still deployed to secure and refresh the perimeter. The good evolution of the fire allows the WFP to allow the return home of the 120 evicted people. These must return little by little, gradually.

There are forecasts of high temperatures in the area, which is why aerial means are maintained with control and surveillance tasks in the most sensitive points.

A las 12:00 hours, the authorities consider the fire under control. The Forest Firefighters continue to carry out work to cool the area and secure it until it can be declared extinguished, although that point has not yet been reached.
