In the plenary session of the Consell, the subscription of the agreement established between the Conselleria de Sanidad Universal y Salud Pública and Fontilles Fundació has been authorized again. Through this, they will continue to contribute in 2022 to the socio-health care of people affected by leprosy.
Through this agreement, endowed this year with 850.000 euros, the current expenses that said entity makes during 2022 in the development of the social health care program for people affected by leprosy will be financed from the Generalitat's Budgets.
The activity of this foundation consists, primarily, in the comprehensive care of leprosy patients, seeking healing, recovery and reintegration into society, and comprehensive care for people who, due to their illness, suffer from social marginalization. In addition, it intervenes in international cooperation projects in underdeveloped countries that suffer the same situations derived from the disease.
In the sanatorium located in Fontilles, Vall de Laguar, both residential patients and outpatients are cared for. For reasons of age, the dependence created on the center and, especially, because these are patients with serious sequelae of the disease, it is not possible to relocate them in adequate conditions in other health centers.
For these reasons, it collaborates through this agreement with this entity to ensure the maintenance of the center and the services it performs with a group as sensitive and vulnerable as those affected by leprosy.
The agreement is identical to the one signed in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
