The Gargasindi School of Special Education in Calp continues to be demolished and without a clear future

30 September 2021 - 13: 43

The Gargasindi Special Education College in Calp continues to be demolished and without having yet awarded the drafting of the project necessary for the school to return to Calp again. This wait in the tender, therefore, further delays the construction works of the new facilities.

The works of CEE Gargasindi are framed within the Pla Edificant. For the demolition of the building last March 148 882 euros were allocated. Currently, the center's facilities have been located in Benissa since June 2020, awaiting the construction of the renovated center in its locality of origin.

Today the mayor of Calp, Ana Sala, accompanied by the mayor of education, Pilar Cabrera and the mayor of Benissa, Arturo Poquet, has visited the current relocated facilities.

The demolition was carried out in order to carry out the expansion works of the center. After some proposals to relocate the center, it was finally decided to leave it where it had been until now. To expand the CEE Gargasindi, the old nursery school was demolished.

The Gargasindi Public Center for Special Education in Calp was born in September 1980. It was thus positioned as a resource center and attention to boys and girls with serious and permanent educational needs from the Marina Alta region.

Over the years, and responding to the needs of the area, the students from the Marina Baixa were also integrated. The center has about 80 students with very diverse special and permanent educational needs enrolled in school.
