21 March 2023 - 14: 56

José Ivars, from Calpe, has been elected a new member of the Royal Hispanic Academy of Philately and Postal History, a recognition of the long career and dissemination in the world of philately carried out by this passionate about the world of stamps and who currently chairs the Philatelic Association and Numismatics of Calp as well as the Federation of Philatelic Associations of the Valencian Community (FASFILCOVA).

Ivars joins this organization after his candidacy was approved by the majority of academics at the institution's General Assembly held on March 17. His candidacy was proposed by one of the academics and endorsed by three others, a requirement for it to be presented. "For me it was a great surprise that they proposed me to become an academic and it shows that they have valued my curriculum in national philately as well as the dissemination carried out over the years", adding that he assumes the position with "great enthusiasm and responsibility".

Precisely to be able to enter as a member of the Royal Hispanic Academy of Philately and Postal History it is essential to have recognized prestige and merit in the research, study and dissemination of everything related to Philately and Postal History of Spain. José Ivars has a history of more than 40 years in the
world of philately, a hobby that an uncle of his from Benissa introduced him to. He began his philatelic career within the Benissa Philatelic and Numismatic Association in 1982, of which he was a founding member, as well as the Calp Philatelic and Numismatic Association, created in 1996. He has motivated and participated in the organization of the totality of philatelic exhibitions that have been carried out in the region of La Marina
Alta – among them EXFICALP -, promoter of many postage stamps that have been put into circulation in recent years related to Alicante themes, the last of them, the one dedicated to the Bofill Year – Ivars himself is part of the Bofill Year 2023 commission -.

In addition, its dissemination and dissemination activity stands out with the publication of numerous articles both on its blog Ifac Filatélico, created in 2014 and in which it has published more than 800 texts, as well as in the media as well as in specialized magazines.

"Academics are the guardians of philatelic knowledge and they are the people who have the greatest philatelic wisdom, whose function is to ensure the heritage that philately and Spanish postal history entails and to make it known", he pointed out and now as a new member he has assured that he will continue more if possible with his divulging work.

This morning Ivars, accompanied by the member of the Calp Philatelic Association, Jacky Vázquez, was received by the mayoress of Calp, Ana Sala, and the first deputy mayor Juan Manuel del Pino who have congratulated him on this distinction.
