The Ondara City Council organizes an emotional well-being program for young people

February 27 from 2024 - 10: 39

The City Council of Ondara, through the Departments of Welfare, Education and Health, has promoted an Emotional Wellbeing program aimed at educational centers (IES Xebic and CEIP Sanchis Guarner) that will be developed throughout the coming weeks of March and April, with sessions on March 10, 12, and April 18 and 25. The Councilors of Social Services, Nerea Mallol; Education, Rosa Ana Marí; and Health, Jordi Ruiz, have presented this initiative aimed at taking care of the mental health of the younger population.

The program, with the resources and advice of AMADEM, will begin on March 10 and 12 with a workshop at the IES Xebic for 1st year of ESO, consisting of a participatory dynamic on Mental Health: Self-knowledge, control of impulsivity and resistance to frustration. On April 18, at the IES Xebic, there will be the Mental Health Mailbox (during recess time) and the participatory talk "Family Afternoons" for Secondary Education families.

There will also be an online mailbox to leave queries, which will be resolved or referred to relevant specialists. On April 25, at the CEIP Sanchis Guarner, a participatory dynamic in emotion management will be held for 5th grade students: knowing emotions; identify them, and learn to regulate them.

In the presentation of the Emotional Wellbeing program, Nerea Mallol stated that "mental health was a primary issue in our electoral programs and although there are different programs in Social Services, we thought it was important to expand the offer, in this case, to the younger population. For her part, Rosa Ana Marí, as Councilor for Education, has highlighted the fact that she is "in constant contact with educational centers to provide any resource that implies an improvement in their development, and this program will serve to give them tools to face and manage emotional issues.

Jordi Ruíz, as Councilor for Health, has insisted that "mental health is a very important problem and unfortunately, it is expensive to access professionals publicly, which is why with this program we intend to go one step further and provide an adequate response." . From the three Departments, Welfare, Education and Health, they have shown their hope that next year it can be repeated and expanded to more courses.
