The Department of Tourism of the Benissa City Council has attended the annual event of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which is held in Madrid from January 17 to 23. Its most direct commitment in this call is to enhance the varied sports, gastronomic and cultural offer of the municipality. All this combined with sustainability and intelligent management.
The base line of the promotion that Jorge Ivars, Councilor for Tourism of Benissa, and his team want to highlight will be based, mainly, on gastronomy and outdoor sports. In addition, they also intend to show the specialized public the Smart Tourism Destination Plan that they will launch in the coming months and the Tourism Sustainability Plan.
Both axes will be presented this Wednesday, January 19 at the Costa Blanca stand. On the one hand, the DTI is launched with the intention of advancing towards the digital transformation of tourism management, accessing information and knowledge on how to apply technology to Tourism and positioning Benissa at the forefront as a smart destination. Some of the purposes of the plan will be aimed at achieving deseasonalization, the revitalization of the local economy, the adaptation of the destination to people with disabilities and the reduction of environmental impact.
On the other hand, the PSTD will allow the development of actions such as the incorporation of cycling infrastructures, the pedestrianization of different streets of the traditional center or the updating of water meters. In addition to refurbishing the Aula de la Mar facilities and creating a recreational area and base center for mountain sports in the Solana.
On Thursday the 20th, the '#GastroExperienceBenissa' will be presented, an idea through which it is intended to develop Benissa's gastronomic brand and reputation linked to concepts such as 'slow food', the healthy Mediterranean diet and local products.
The same Thursday will also show the new edition of the '#BenissaNaturSport 2022' guide, which brings together all of Benissa's sports offer linked to the environment and nature.
During question time, the mayor, Arturo Poquet, declared: "Behind the current economic and social situation there is an opportunity to strengthen our tourism project with a strong national focus." Therefore, the strategy will be aimed at local tourism.
