David Mestre Sendra, a resident of Sant Joan street, was the winner of the first Christmas decoration contest for facades and balconies, a contest organized by the Pego City Council and which had the collaboration of the Association of Merchants and Professionals of the municipality.

Mestre, who participated in the contest along with several neighbors and used around 2.000 balloons to make the decoration in which you could see a moon, a sun, a blue sky and the three Wise Men of the East. The winner took home a prize of 200 euros to spend in the town's shops.

Second place in the contest went to Carlos Sánchez Monzó, a resident of Planes Street, who also used a large number of balloons to decorate his façade, which also featured the three from Oriente. In addition, Sánchez achieved a striking effect in which he simulated that the balloons came out of one of the windows of the house. The second prize was 100 euros also to spend in local businesses.

Third place went to Manuel Pascual Ferrándiz, whose decoration “bordered on symmetrical perfection and good taste,” according to the members of the jury, who took home a batch of products from Pego stores valued at 50 euros.

«We are very happy with the reception that the contest has had, both by the participants and by the rest of the neighbors who have applauded the initiative and I know that many of them have visited the decorated homes. One of the objectives was to recover and strengthen the tradition of placing balloons and baskets on the balconies and facades of our houses to receive the three Wise Men. I think we have laid a foundation stone for the contest to continue growing in the coming years," said Festival Councilor Anna Llopis.
