Compromís, on the new Calp real estate complex: «All the solutions of this government go through building more»

14 September 2021 - 10: 04

Calp definitively approved yesterday, with the votes of the PP, Citizens and the PSPV, the specific modification D-12 of the General Plan to build a real estate complex on an endowment plot (that is, for public use) on Calle Teulada.

Why does this situation occur?

This situation dates back to the exchanges that the city council made in 2003 with the owners of the plots of the Baños de la Reina. In one of those cases, the city council acquired a parcel of the Roman sites and exchanged it for another in Teulada street.

This plot, of 5.900 m2, is classified as endowment so the owner, Altamira Santander SA, requested an expropriation requested from the city council. An expropriation that amounted to 7 million euros.

Faced with this situation, the city council, advised by the urban planner Gerardo Roger, has preferred to modify the General Plan so that, instead of having to expropriate this plot, a real estate complex made up of spaces in the public domain and in the private domain is allowed to be created in it.

This project, pioneer in Spain, involves the construction of a complex made up of 5 farms, among which it is planned the construction of a 15-story hotel. This plot will have public spaces for the city council and private so that Altamira can exploit them.

The Valencian formation initially accepted this operation since, as they explain to this newspaper, "if there was no money to pay for the expropriation, we accepted that it was what had to be done."

However, after learning that this year they will stop spending 5 million of the remaining treasury, his spokesman Ximo Perles clarified that "I am not so sure that, if there is money to pay, it is suitable to carry out this real estate complex."

In this sense, Perles positioned himself yesterday during the plenary session totally contrary to the fiscal and economic policy of the government of Ana Sala.

For Perles, "for one thing or another, in the end all the solutions of this government always go through building more and more ".
