Colomer advocates redirecting the new opportunities in the La Vall d'Ebo area in a touristic way

01 December 2022 - 16: 39

The regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, has advocated this Thursday for "redirecting and rebuilding the new opportunities in the area of La Vall d'Ebo in a tourist key", one of the inland territories of the province of Alicante affected by the fires this summer in the Valencian Community.

Colomer has defended "collective responsibility" as essential to "fight against oblivion and maintain hope in this territory and its people", who in his opinion still retains "the desire for hospitality, to receive and welcome tourists and always offer his best version."

The head of Turisme made these statements in the municipality of La Vall d'Ebo after the opening of the conference 'Tourism, the backbone of the recovery of territories affected by catastrophes', promoted by Turisme CV together with the Chamber of Commerce from Alicante, and which has brought together more than thirty destinations, freelancers and SMEs from the tourism sector in the area.

The session was also attended by the Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo de la Palma, Raúl Camacho, who directly revealed how La Palma has worked after the tragedy caused by the eruption of the volcano and what kind of responses can activate from tourism.

Tourism stimulus policies

In this context, Colomer has reported that Turisme Comunitat Valenciana is going to dedicate "an additional effort" through "stimulus policies" that allow it to continue attracting visitors to the area and encourage tourist influx out of season. In this regard, Colomer has stated that programs in his department, such as the 2023 Travel Bonus, will help maintain this premise.

He has also made reference to other promotion tools made available to the sector in this area by Turisme, such as aid to tourism companies and Tourism Governance Plans; which, as he has pointed out, "in the coming years they will try to support La Vall d'Ebo to draw up a recovery strategy, create product and revitalize the area".

Lastly, this Friday, December 2, the same event format will take place in the province of Castellón, at the Cooperativa de Viver, one of the companies affected by the fire in Bejís, and which will bring together the tourism sector in the area, with the assistance of the regional secretary of Tourism.
