30 June 2021 - 15: 56

The granting of aid to local commerce to subsidize the receipt of the municipal solid waste collection rate for the first quarter of 2021 will be taken to the next plenary session. The Calp City Council thus intends to give continuity to aid to local commerce, which will collaborate in the process of reactivation of the commercial sector in the post-pandemic period.

The amount of the subsidy awarded to each beneficiary will be equivalent to the garbage receipt in the first quarter of the year, with a maximum amount of 3.000 euros. For this, the City Council has allocated a total of 548.855 euros to this line of aid, with the aim of protecting the local productive fabric and employment as much as possible.

Those who may be eligible for these aids are natural or legal persons and entities lacking legally constituted legal personality in which the following situation occurs: being carrying out a commercial activity in Calp on the date of application for inclusion in the call, having a commercial premises in Calp for the development of commercial activity and having paid the tax for household garbage collection corresponding to the register of the first semester of 2021. In case of developing the activity in a rented premises, the lease must be provided.

The council calculates that if the bases are approved in the July plenary session, after the corresponding publication, the call may be formalized in the month of September.

As regards Calp, tourism is a strategic sector of the local economy, which includes hotels and restaurants, commercial and real estate activities, construction and related services. All of them are the main economic activities of the city as well as its source of wealth and employment. In recent months, a large part of these institutions have been forced to close due to established restrictions, but they continue to pay the corresponding fees. To this end, the city council now intends to strengthen attendance at local business activity.

This measure is in addition to those launched by the City Council in recent months for shops, discos and bars, for businesswomen and entrepreneurs who have been active for less than three years.
