Calp increases the subsidy for the Bous al carrer Association and approves the Territorial Youth Plan

May 09 from 2023 - 18: 06

The plenary session of the Calp City Council held yesterday approved various of the points discussed. Specifically, point 7 of credit transfer approval proposed modifying the budget bases for the transfer of 30.000 euros of credit from the Protocol and Twinning items.

Previously, the subsidy to the Calp brotherhoods was increased in this way and yesterday it was done for the Association of Bous al Carrer. In this sense, the item for the organization will be increased by 10.000 euros more.

The point went ahead, but not before receiving criticism from the opposition benches. For his part, Toni Tur, from Defendamos Calpe, accused the mayor's office of using subsidies to municipal associations at its discretion. "I do not doubt the need, but the form is very electoral, we would like the procedure to be more open, transparent and egalitarian," added Tur.

For his part, Marcos Bittner, from the socialist group, wanted to defend his principles against those of his party and assured that he, in particular, would vote against the point "because I belong to the Calp Ecological Cultural Association (ACEC) and I am not going to give money to bullfighting We just approved the budget and now there are subsidies and expenses that could have been contemplated. Let's make useful politics."

Finally, Ximo Perles, from Compromís, pointed out that "we abstained because we voted against the budget and if there are now changes it is due to a lack of planning."

Calp Territorial Youth Plan

From the press department of the mayor's current party Ana Sala, We are Calpe, it had been announced days before that the intention of the mayor's office was to approve the Calp Territorial Youth Plan, in which the Councilor for Youth, Rebeca Merchán, also from the Sala formation, had worked to get ahead.

Merchán explained the content of this plan, the result of collaboration between various administrations: "It is an ambitious plan designed to be modified when necessary." This is intended to be a working tool to identify the demands and problems of youth, as well as provide effective responses to their needs from different realities. All the lines of action are framed according to the guiding principles and guidelines of youth policies, included in Law 15/2017.

One of the most critical and insistent with the plan and the “lack of data” in it was the spokesperson and candidate for Desde Defendamos Calpe, Paco Quiles: “The plan leaves much to be desired. It doesn't really examine what the problems of young people are. There is no talk of youth unemployment, there is no talk of the problems to access housing, of the lack of opportunities, there are no tourism training cycles, the students who study abroad are not quantified. In this way, Quiles sentenced his abstention stating that "Young people do not need subsidies, they need opportunities."

The mayor of Compromís, Mireia Ripoll, positively assessed the plan for involving young people and because the diagnosis offered was correct, but highlighted the "lack of intervention, of concrete actions to diversify economic activity, to create social housing and other concrete measures ».

Carolina Devesa, councilor for the PSOE, for her part, welcomed the preparation of the plan, since the regional regulations require this plan from city councils, but she also criticized the lack of participation of opposition groups or youth associations, and also highlighted the lack of momentum, financing and visibility of the Youth department. Devesa pointed out: "We must be more ambitious, especially at the budget level, since youth policies are an investment."

you want to make the right decision. you are looking for the right candidate. Do the beaches have showers? No! Do the beaches have disabled access? No! In the city there are toilets, not in cafes and restaurants! No! Who will do it? Why do pregnant women have to find a bathroom? What did you do for this? Nothing!!
