Calp City Council debuted at the 16th edition of the Salon du Randonneur de Lyon, a renowned fair for hikers and hiking lovers in France. Participation in this event represents a significant step within the municipal project to diversify the tourist offer. Through a stand managed by Tourespaña, Calp sought to promote its varied offer of active tourism throughout the year, focusing especially on hiking and cycle routes.
France, a country with a solid hiking culture, has more than 27 million fans of this discipline, representing 56% of its adult population, according to data from the French Federation of Hikers. This context makes the Salon du Randonneur a relevant event to promote tourist destinations such as Calp.
It is estimated that the fair, with more than 480 exhibitors, attracts around 15.000 visitors throughout its three days, including the general public, hiking associations, sector professionals, specialized press and travel agencies.
Calp, one of the few Spanish destinations present in Lyon, has generated interest among a diverse and environmentally conscious public, highlighting the appreciation of local gastronomy and the possibility of combining nautical activities with the natural routes of the interior.
