Calp will turn off its lights in "Earth Hour 2022" to support the fight against climate change

22 March 2022 - 13: 40

Next Saturday, March 26, the initiative "Earth Hour 2022" will take place, an action promoted by WWF that stages the commitment of organizations, citizens, municipalities, institutions and companies from around the world in the fight against climate change. The action consists of turning off the lights for an hour.

In the case of Calp, the City Council will turn off the lights that illuminate the facades of the Casanova Campus of Business Excellence and the hermitage of San Salvador and the small lights on Avenida Gabriel Miró between 20:30 p.m. and 21:30 p.m.

In addition, from the social networks of the Consistory, the residents and merchants of Calp have been encouraged to join this global initiative during those 60 minutes. If so, it would serve as a joint action to serve as a reminder that nature is the life support system of the planet and that we must defend it to safeguard the health of the planet.

More than 260 municipalities and fifty institutions have confirmed their participation next Saturday in the global initiative that wants to overcome in Spain the fifty registered municipalities. Since the campaign began in Sydney, in 2007, participants have been added to reach almost 200 countries that every 'Earth Hour' turn off the light of their most emblematic buildings such as the Eiffel Tower, the Roman Coliseum or the Alhambra in Granada .
