The Benissa City Council in collaboration with the Department of Health, the Department of Culture and Sports and the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces have launched the program 'In Movement' for the prescription of health-oriented physical activity and exercise from the Primary Care center.

To carry out the program, Benissa has recently created the Physical Activity and Exercise Unit (UAEF) of Benissa, which is made up of Adrián Cabrera (Sports Councilor), Raquel Oltra (Health Councilor), Anabel Capó (physical preparation of the program In Moviment), Pere Tent (Sports Technician of the Benissa City Council),
Maria Victoria Pino (Nursing coordinator of the Benissa Health Center), Oscar Morell (medical coordinator of the Benissa Health Center) and Silvia Méjica (Health Administration and Public Health doctor of the Public Health Center of Dénia).

"We have created this Unit to be able to work in synergy and collaboration between sports professionals and health professionals with the sole objective of improving the quality of life of the users who carry out the program," explained Adrián Cabrera, Councilor for Sports.

Who is it geared towards?

This program is focused on people between 60 and 75 years old who suffer from chronic diseases (HTN, DM, Dyslipidemia...), have multiple pathologies and/or suffer from unwanted loneliness. The health professionals of the Benissa Health Center will be the ones who determine the profile that meets the requirements and will then be referred, through the UAEF, to the physical activity professionals of the Benissa City Council to start the exercise plan. physical that will be carried out in a group or individually according to the individual assessment of each case.

"We know that sport improves people's health and quality of life and, that is why the En Moviment program is so important, which will allow older people with chronic ailments to exercise supervised by physical activity professionals," explained Raquel. Oltra, Councilor for Health and Seniors.

The program, which will start in April and will last six months, will be completely free for users who come from the Benissa Health Center.
