The history of Benissa writes a new and exciting chapter with the celebration of the 'I Benissatló', a test that is destined to be one of the great events in the calendar of many lovers of this sport. The next Saturday October 22, the municipality will prepare to welcome more than 150 participants from different parts of Spain and the Community to compete in a competition that combines 750 meters of swimming, 20.5 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running that will pass through a complex layout that combines two nuclei: coastal area and urban area.

It is about the staging of a sporting event that began as a project and that is now a reality thanks to the support of different organizing clubs of the event together with the Benissa Town Hall. Atletisme Benissa, the Benissa Swimming Club, the Les Basetes Yacht Club, Benissaactiva and the Department of Sports led by Adrián Cabrera have prepared a triathlon that aspires to become, since its inauguration, a unique event in the region.
And we are talking about a privileged and unique environment that not only the participants can enjoy but also their families and all the fans who decide to come here to enjoy the event. The environment of Benissa, which has a beach and mountains in its vicinity, has allowed the organization to prepare a technical circuit, but very attractive in terms of landscapes and tourist enclaves through which the test will travel.
In turn, the organization has proposed to develop an itinerary with more complex sections to provide triathletes with extra difficulty. Cabrera has said that "this is the only way to differentiate ourselves from other municipalities and be more attractive than the rest." To which he has added, "my objective and that of the mayor is that this test has a regional and national dimension, and that the name of Benissa be heard in Ourense, Cádiz or San Sebastián".
That is why the city council plans to present 'Benissatló' at the next FITUR International Tourism Fair under the umbrella of 'Benissa Natursport' with the aim of making the test grow in future editions.
Adrián Cabrera closed his speech stating that "with little money, some imagination, creativity and many hours of work we are making Benissa a sports benchmark at the national level".
