Green Flag for Calp, the municipality most involved in glass recycling

Calp has received the Ecovidrio Green Flag for being the municipality with the greatest involvement in the recycling campaign launched by the entity for July and August. Thus, Calp is the municipality with the highest score, 2 points, among the 805 Valencian towns that participated.

This year's Green Flags Movement rewarded the increase in glass recycling in the towns. On the other hand, it also recognized the percentage of local hospitality that adhered to the movement. And, finally, the commitment of the City Council on duty to disseminate and promote the campaign among its citizens.

The mayor of Calp, Ana Sala, has been grateful for the commitment of its neighbors and the hospitality industry. "With this gesture they not only make Calp a more sustainable municipality but they are also helping to fight against climate change and take care of the planet", he stressed.

Maximum score for Calp

In this way, Calp has achieved the maximum score assigned by Ecovidrio in the volume of selective collection of glass, 100 points. Regarding the degree of adhesion of the hospitality industry, 193 Calp catering establishments have participated, for this reason it has achieved 200 points. In addition, they have also added the highest score in terms of the dissemination campaign of this initiative, which has meant 2 points.

The second classified of the movement has been El Campello, with 1 610 points. The objective of the campaign was to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and the separation and selective collection of glass containers.

Thanks to the recycling of glass containers, during this summer the municipalities of the Valencian Community participating in the challenge have avoided the emission of more than 5.600 tons of CO2 to the environment. In other words, the equivalent of taking more than 2.600 vehicles out of circulation for a year.
