The Department of Education, Culture and Sports has recognized the expansion of the museum facilities, as well as the typology of the center, which is now called the Ethnological and Archaeological Museum of Xaló.
In 2006 the Ethnological Museum of Xaló was recognized as the central axis of the local cultural heritage, fulfilling the function of protection, conservation, management and dissemination.
Throughout these thirteen years of existence, the Museum has developed a series of activities and projects focused on cultural heritage, reaching practically all the typologies that comprise it: ethnological, architectural, artistic, archaeological, historical, intangible and environmental. .
The new museum facilities are located in the same building that houses the facilities belonging to the Ethnological Museum of Xaló, which have been expanded for new needs.
The local archaeological heritage is made up of a heterogeneous set of archaeological sites of different assignments and typologies. It is worth highlighting the four archaeological sites that have the BIC category: the set of prehistoric rock art in the Mançano shelter, the Cova de les Meravelles (with a set of prehistoric cave engravings), the Andalusian Castell d'Aixa and the Andalusian Castle. of Bèrnia.
Also part of the archaeological heritage is the existence of a valuable set of elements of the hydraulic heritage: weirs, ditches, partidores, mills, ponds and dams. Another group of elements that would be framed within the archaeological heritage are those related to the quarrying industry and the extraction of clay.
