This data casts a negative picture in a territory like the Marina Alta, closely linked to jobs linked to the service sector typical of the tourist season. Although the monthly variation in October shows a balance of 492 more unemployed people, which makes the Marina Alta the region with the second highest increase in the number of job seekers, however, the annual variation of applicants reflects a reduction of 19,98%. Being the second region with the best interannual evolution behind the Marina Baixa.

In addition, October is a month in which unemployment has historically risen in the Marina Alta due to the end of the summer campaign, and despite the fact that this monthly variation is around that of a pre-crisis year (+5,19%), the total number of 9.978 job seekers is the lowest value for a month of October in the historical series.

In this sense, a slowdown in activity in the labor market in the region is glimpsed. While unemployment falls in October in the national group (this is the second time in the historical series that unemployment has fallen in a month of October, together with October 2021). The Valencian Community, province of Alicante, and in particular the Marina Alta, drag increases in job seekers in relation to the month of September. To this is added to the region the drop in hiring and reduction in affiliations by 13,50% and 0,30% respectively, while they increase in the province and in the Valencian territory as a whole.

By calculating the unemployment rate, in the Marina Alta, a slight increase (+0,6%) is once again observed compared to September, reaching an estimated unemployment rate of 14,29%.
