As you look out onto Camí de Canor street, you can already see the first backhoe loaders starting construction work on the new municipal soccer 8 stadium in Benissa. Some tasks that are expected to last until the end of the year, between November and December, the date for which the inauguration of the new sports facility is scheduled.

The football field, which is located within the sports investment package that the consistory has integrated into the 'Benissa Activa' project, It is the first of the works that begin to see the light, but it is not the only one that will be completed during the present term, since according to the mayor, Arturo Poquet, "it is very likely that in the first months from 2022 let us see the machinery working on the athletics track ”, one of the political commitments of the current municipal government and which will have the support of the Alicante Provincial Council for its financing.

In addition, before going into the technical details about the 'Mini Estadi', Poquet wanted to take the opportunity to announce that the city council has just recently presented itself to a line of subsidies launched by the provincial government for the renovation of artificial turf in soccer fields and, as he has stated, “we foreseeably meet the requirements demanded by the Alicante Provincial Council, so we hope to have this help to also adapt the La Costa field”. A global sports project, considered and agreed with the entire Benissa sport, which will find in the new soccer field 8 the opportunity to open the municipality to international tournaments, collaborations with first division clubs and new training methodologies for all our teams.

In the installation, sustainability has been prioritized, as well as a careful integration with the space that produces the minimum environmental impact, while enriching the environment with an important contribution of green area and recreation area. In addition, it will have an annexed building with changing rooms, toilets, facilities room and warehouse (260 m2) composed of two rectangular volumes on one floor and joined by a porch. Attached to the buildings, from the rear, are the precast reinforced concrete stands, formed by three rows of seats at the access level to improve the views over the field and its accessibility.

The court will have dimensions of 60x35 meters covered by the latest generation artificial grass with monofilaments and a semi-concave structure with memory effect, as well as a 1.5 meter wide perimeter safety band, perfect for sports. On the three sides that do not occupy the stands, at a distance of 3 meters from the outside of the safety edge, a metal mesh fence with a height of 2.5 meters will be placed. In addition, photovoltaic panels will be installed on the buildings that will serve to heat the water.

In short, a first-class sports construction with which, as stated by the Sports Councilor, Adrián Cabrera: “we respond to a historical claim of the world of football in Benissa and we contribute to strengthening the 'Benissa Activa' project, which is transversal to different areas of the city council such as Sports, Health, Tourism and Environment ”.

To close the presentation, Poquet wanted to get wet with the deadlines, stating that "Before the end of the year, our teams will be able to enjoy modern facilities with the latest innovations in sports."
