Representatives of the Misteri de Reis de Gata receive official recognition as a Festival of Autonomous Tourist Interest
The assembly hall of the Social Center of Gata de Gorgos has hosted this noon the official award ceremony of the recognition of the Festival of Autonomous Tourist Interest of the Valencian Community to the Misteri de Reis de Gata. The crowded act of personalities involved in the Misteri was presided over by the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, the councilor for Fiestas, Joanvi Vallés, and the mayor of the municipality, Josep Signes.
The Official Newspaper of the Generalitat Valenciana published on June 2, 2022 the resolution with the recognition of the party. A significant advance since the process began to achieve the distinction at the local level first and, later, in 2015, that of Provincial Tourist Interest Festival.
A merit for the town that has managed to value this deep-rooted tradition of more than 50 years in the municipality. The town of Gata has received this recognition knowing how to appreciate the effort made by a large group of people, from the City Council to the last collaborator of the festival, to ensure that the Misteri de Reis is the heritage of all its people and a strong sign of identity.
During the delivery, the City Council wanted to recognize the work of the various councilors of the town's Festivals since 1979: Antonio Soler Llàcer, Ana Maria Soler Oliver, Antonio Soler Signes, Maria Jesús Salvá Monfort, Aurelio Signes Martínez, Maria Vicenta Pedro José, Irene Signes Mengual, Jesús Ángel Palacios Torres, Maria Rosa Simó Pedrós, Juan Pedrós Talens, Noel Gadea Ronda, Toni Arabí Arabí and Joanvi Vallés Roselló.
In the same way, as a global recognition of the Three Kings commission and organization of the Misteri de Reis, a large representation of people involved have starred in the central moment of the delivery. The work of Antonio Monfort, current stage director, has also been widely applauded. Like that of the author of the Misteri text, Antonio Salvà Roselló.
The mayor of Gata wanted to start the ceremony by recalling the long history of the Misteri de Reis until it achieved this recognition. Since it premiered in 1968, the great Christmas event in Gata de Gorgos has been carried out without interruption, except in 2021, when the pandemic forced the organization to adapt the dramatization to the COVID regulations.
For his part, Colomer has highlighted the importance of the trajectory of the party that is passed from generation to generation with great success among the gaters and gateres. A passion and illusion that has been revived with a documentary of the last Misteri de Reis 2023 and that the organization will use for its dissemination and regional advertising.
