The Council of Ministers has presented the plan of the Bank Restructuring Asset Management Company (Sareb), better known as the "bad bank", to mobilize some 50.000 homes that will be used for social and affordable rentals for young people and families. In the province of Alicante, Sareb owns 1.801 properties.
The Government announced this measure last week, from which Sareb homes will be used for social rental, as a way of increasing the public stock and combating the rise in rental prices. In this way, the Executive will offer autonomous communities and municipalities a part of the properties.
The Marina Alta will come out as one of the best stopped regions of this entire process, since it will have a good part of this total number of homes in the Alicante province. Are 536 distributed in 14 municipalities.
Dénia, the regional capital, is the town where the bad bank owns more properties. 13,4% of the total offer in the province, surpassing two of the largest cities, Alacant (82) and Elx (69).
But, of the rest of the towns, one of them is among the top 10 with the most apartments in Sareb. Is about Gata de Gorgos, the third with the most homes for social rental in the province, with a total of 83. Beniarbeig is just below the top ten, with 53 homes to be part of the new plan.
