Compromís demands the intervention of the Conselleria in urology of Marina Salud after only one doctor remains

There is only one doctor left in the urology service at Dénia Hospital, Marina Salut, out of four that existed before the summer. This has been transmitted by Compromís, and whose representative in Les Corts, deputy Josep Nadal, has registered a parliamentary question addressed to the Ministry of Health to find out what he intends to do to solve the situation.

According to the formation, to the lack of professionals in the health of the Marina Alta for years, now is added "the deficient service in urology that has been diminished since the beginning of the summer". However, Compromís not only attributes this lack to the summer season, but to a "traditional flight of professionals from the health department of the Ribera Salud subsidiary". Something that, they denounce, has caused only one doctor to remain in said service, "which is a professional for the more than 175.000 people in the region, not counting the increase in population in the summer," they add.

Consequently, the situation causes an increase in the waiting lists in urology and a worsening of the diagnoses of people in the region.

“We are already tired of the health of the Marina Alta being a place of passage for health professionals. Nobody wants to work here because of the poor working conditions offered by Marina Salud and all citizens end up suffering from this. If the company is not able to maintain its staff to offer a decent service, it should outsource those services. It cannot be that the health of the people of the Marina Alta depends on the economic balance of a multinational. If this has to be the case, the Ministry should intervene in the service”, explains the Pegolí deputy.
