The Marina Alta has officially welcomed Christmas during this December long weekend with the switching on of lights in several of its municipalities. Streets and squares became a spectacle of light, music and festive spirit. These celebrations brought together residents and visitors to inaugurate the Christmas season with events full of cultural activities.
Calp
Calp brought forward the magic of Christmas on Friday, November 29 with a lively parade that filled its streets and squares with joy and color. During the event, the official switching on of the Christmas lights took place, transforming the town into a brilliant stage. Residents and visitors were able to enjoy a festive atmosphere that invited them to walk through its decorated corners and immerse themselves in the Christmas spirit.
Benissa
In Benissa, on Thursday 5 December, Plaça Rei Jaume I became the epicentre of the festivities with the inauguration of the Viu el Nadal programme. The lighting of the lights was accompanied by a Christmas show and a hot chocolate party. The music, provided by the students of Pentatónic, from the Manuel Bru and Padre Melchor schools, together with the Associació de Mestresses de Casa, gave life to a great celebration.
Pego
The town hall square in Pego was also the meeting point on Thursday for the traditional lighting of the lights. The ceremony marked the official start of the festivities in a family atmosphere full of magic.
Teulada Moraira
On Friday 6th, Teulada Moraira experienced an afternoon full of excitement in two of its main squares. At 18:00 pm, the Plaza de la Constitución in Teulada was the scene of the first lighting, enlivened by the voices of the Coral Teuladina and The International Choir. Later, at 19:30 pm, the Plaza de la Iglesia in Moraira hosted its own lighting, where the Cor La Senieta and the Coro de Voces Masculinas Costa Blanca were in charge of filling the atmosphere with harmony and Christmas carols.
Ondara
In Ondara, residents gathered in front of the town hall to celebrate the arrival of Christmas on Thursday. Lights and Christmas excitement filled every corner of the town.
Dénia
In Dénia, Christmas officially began on Saturday 7th with the traditional Nit de la Llum. The magical event filled the streets of the city with light, charm and commercial activity, becoming a real magnet for locals and tourists.
Xàbia
On Thursday 5th, Xàbia turned on the Christmas lights in the Historic Centre, Aduanas and Arenal. This event was notable for the integration of three urban centres in a single celebration, offering a unique experience that connected its residents and visitors around the Christmas spirit.
El Poble Nou de Benitatxell
On Friday 6th, Benitatxell shone with a Christmas lighting route. The lights illuminated the main streets of the town, while the Christmas fairy, accompanied by the Colleta of the Music School, toured the town to spread her magic. In the Oratory square, the Christmas tree was inaugurated, and in Llebeig street, a Nativity scene became the centre of attention, accompanied by the carols of the Parish Choir and the Children's Choir.
