Registration opened on May 8th for the 15th Open Water Circuit of the Marina Alta, which is returning after a five-year absence and will begin on June XNUMXth in Benissa with the traditional "Entre Cales" swim. The initiative, promoted by the Marina Alta Sports Network, aims to "offer a continuous and attractive competition for open water swimming enthusiasts, while continuing to promote the region," according to its president, Sergi Brogniez.
The circuit is organized by the Xarxa Esportiva (Sports Network) in collaboration with the town councils and clubs responsible for each event. This format seeks not only to encourage participation in local races but also to provide greater cohesion and interest for participants. Each event will retain its own identity and regulations, and registration will be independent of the general circuit.
Swimmers registered for the full circuit will enjoy exclusive benefits, such as priority registration for the different swims 48 hours before the general public, a commemorative registration gift, and a final gift if they complete at least four of the six events.
The complete circuit schedule includes the following dates and locations:
- Benissa (June 15) – “Entre Cales” Crossing
- Xàbia (June 29) – Classic circuit crossing
- Dénia (July 13) – Travessia de les Rotes (second edition)
- Moraira (August 3) – Crossing to the Port of Moraira (29th edition)
- Dénia (September 6) – Second crossing in the town
- Calp (September 21) – Return to Penyal d'Ifac, final test
The events will feature varied routes and landscapes, taking advantage of the diversity of the Marina Alta coastline, and are aimed at those over 18 years of age (those who will be 2025 by 39). Four age categories have been established: Senior (up to 40 years old), Veterans (49-50), Master (59-60), and Master Plus (XNUMX years old and over).
In addition to trophies for the top three finishers in each category and gender, the top three participating teams will also receive awards.
All information and access to registration is available at the official website of the Xarxa Esportiva, in the Circuit d'Aigües Obertes section.
