El Municipality of Teulada has unveiled at FITUR 2025 its ambitious cultural project under the title "Teulada Moraira, City of Culture and Sculpture". This plan will transform the municipality into an artistic reference point through a route of monumental sculptures that will connect its two urban centres, including high-impact pieces such as the already known salt giant.
Teulada Moraira will announce its great project as City of Culture and Sculpture at Fitur 2025
The sculptures will be strategically located throughout the municipality, creating an urban route that will allow visitors to interact with the works through QR codes. These will offer detailed information about each piece: its creator, its meaning, its history and the context in which it was conceived. In addition, all this information will be available on the web page.
Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Veronica Martinez, explained: “There is an interesting link between each sculpture and its surroundings. One of the main objectives of this spectacular cultural project is to include, within everyday life, the presence of art as one of the most beautiful and emotional forms of human creativity. Rooting the synergy between culture and art in our municipality will allow us to reach a more specific public and cultural tourism.”
Sculptures of national and international renown
Teulada Moraira will be embellished with contemporary sculptures created by prestigious artists, such as Antonio López, the duo Coderch & Malavia, winners of the Reina Sofía Prize for Sculpture, or Víctor Ochoa, author of the bust of Don Juan Borbón located in the IFEMA square in Madrid, among other outstanding creators.
The mayor of the municipality, Raul Llobell, highlighted the impact of this initiative: "These sculptures are capable of attracting the attention of spectators of any age or condition. We want both locals and visitors to be interested in culture and to learn about art. And what better way to do this than in Teulada Moraira."
Sculpture exhibition and ALMA 2025 International Congress
The project will include a parallel exhibition of sculptures in smaller formats and more fragile materials. This exhibition will be held in the emblematic Teulada Moraira Auditorium, a building designed as a metaphor for a cultural beacon that reflects the Mediterranean values of light, climate and sea. The exhibition will be organised biennially, reinforcing the municipality's commitment to training, artistic sensitivity and humanism.
As a complement to these activities, the Auditorium will host the 17rd ALMA International Congress of Monumental Sculpture on 18 and 2025 October XNUMX, an event that will bring together leading experts and figures from the sculpture scene.
Raúl Llobell concluded enthusiastically: “Turning Teulada Moraira into a City of Culture and Sculpture seems to me to be one of the most special ways of enhancing the beauty of our municipality. With this we demonstrate, once again, that Teulada Moraira is a destination capable of offering a wide range of possibilities.”
