The meeting of the Xaló Water councilor and provincial deputy, Gerard Fullana with the representatives of the Water Cycle and the public company Proaguas of the Alicante Provincial Council was quite prolific. The objective of the meeting was to agree on the improvement of the Water facilities in the Valley of Pop.
Among the announced priorities, in addition to the change of connections between the municipalities, is the expansion of the drilling project for a new well in Xaló, the drafting of the project to have a new high supply point for the Parcent City Council or the construction of a water treatment plant in Alcalalí.
During the meeting, Fullana highlighted: "For years, the water management of the coastal municipalities has prevailed and it is necessary to resume investment in the interior of the region to guarantee the service of drinking water in the medium and long term."
A new connection will save water and improve conduction between the Parcent wells and the municipalities of Alcalalí, Xaló and Llíber. The pipeline will replace the current pipeline dating from 1960 and which has significant leaks. The new infrastructure has a budget of 500.000 euros and will focus on renewing the route that goes from Parcent to Alcalalí and, in a later phase, the following route will be addressed.
More water improvements
In addition, the meeting discussed the modification of the drilling project to search for a new well (Murtes) in the municipality of Xaló, which will be increased by 120.000 euros given that it has been decided to go deeper. The need to build the water treatment plant through the Alcalalí well, which was built two years ago (Pou Fondo 2) and which obtains water with a level of turbidity that requires this facility, budgeted at 145.000 euros, has also been addressed.
In addition, it has also been reported that the beginning of the project drafting work to enable a new well in Parcent managed by the local council. The replacement of recent smart home water meters installed in several municipalities and that have been affected by a manufacturing fault has also been discussed.
The Councilor for Water in Xaló and deputy in the Alicante Provincial Council, Gerard Fullana, thanked the council's technicians for their visit and demanded the greatest possible attention from municipalities in the interior of the region, since "for years the water management of the municipalities of the coast, neglecting the municipalities of the interior and it is necessary to resume investment in these towns to guarantee the service of drinking water in the medium and long term”.
