The Valencian Community brings together a total of 778.655 foreigners according to the latest provisional data from the National Institute of Statistics. Of the three provinces, Alacant is the one with the highest concentration of foreign population, some 384.907 people. Below Valencia, with 302.971, and, lastly, Castelló, with 90.777.
It is easy to imagine that the foreign population prefers the Alicante province to live. But among all the locations in the province to choose from, one stands out and it is a town in the Marina Alta. One on the coast? It would be the most obvious, but no.
The municipality of El Verger is among those preferred by foreigners to buy a house according to the Idealista portal. Specifically, the study analyzes those non-coastal locations with the highest percentage of searches to acquire a property.
The Verger is at number four on the list. In first and second place are two more Alicante towns, Ciudad Quesada and Busot, and, in third position, Ciudalcampo in Madrid.
The Verger breaks historical price record
The real estate portal collects data on the sale price per square meter in El Verger since February 2011. In August of the same year, the m2 cost 1.237 euros in the municipality. Now this figure reaches its historical maximum, costing 1.721 euros/m2.
Although the price increase has not been gradual. The municipality experienced two especially significant decreases in the cost of purchasing a home from the first registered annuity. The first was in May 2013, when the square meter cost 875 euros. The second lowest data according to the registry, and the most striking, was in June 2015 when the m2 was worth 765 euros.
