A Passage of Terror with a taste of Valencian tradition in Pego

02 December 2024 - 16: 50

The facilities of the former local secondary school in Pego, now converted into the Espai Veïnal Toni Ribera, were transformed last Friday into an ideal setting for a horror passage focused on the witch hunt. This event, organized by the Youth Department of the Pego City Council, brought together some 200 people, including young people and families from Pego, in an experience that paid tribute to Valencian witches.

The activity, which was initially part of the Nit d'Ànimes celebrations, had been suspended due to the damage caused by the DANA. However, it has now been revived as a recreational activity aimed at helping participants overcome their fears, represented on this occasion by witches, monsters, inquisitors and other chilling characters.

The passage came to life thanks to the creativity of the young Correspondents of the municipality and the actors of the collaborating company Azarkia Rol en Vivo. Among the characters that scared children and adults were Na Guilleuma, the fetilleres, trementinaires, necromantes, maranyotes, la Balaguera, the young woman with green hair and the pegolina Morgana, played by the local actress Carolina Ferrer.

The activity combined culture, tradition and fun in an annual encounter with fear, which aims to pay tribute to the monsters and feared figures of Valencian culture. It is expected that in future editions characters such as Cuca Fera, Quarantamaula, the home dels nassos and the home del sac, among others, will also pass through the streets of Pego.
