A married couple steals 16 vehicles from the beaches of Xàbia and Benitatxell

06 September 2022 - 10: 36

The Civil Guard of Alicante has arrested a couple who are accused of twenty crimes against property, committed on several beaches in the Levante region of Alicante during the current summer season. Both have similar records committed in the province in past summers. The man was arrested in 2020 in Altea as the alleged perpetrator of 10 crimes of robbery with force inside a vehicle.

After detecting a significant increase in robberies inside vehicles in Cala del Moraig, in the town of Benitatxell, and Cala Barraca in Xàbia, two very popular beaches in the area, the Xàbia Civil Guard began investigations to locate those responsible. From the investigations carried out, thanks mainly to the statements of some witnesses, and with the collaboration of the agents of the Benitatxell Local Police, at the beginning of August the agents focused their suspicions on a couple from Seville who were spending the summer in La Nucia.

They traveled to the beaches in the north of the province and chose coves where visitors had to walk a considerable distance from the parking lot to the bathing area, guaranteeing themselves the necessary time to commit crimes without being discovered. They hung around the car parks waiting to see that some tourist left bags or backpacks inside the car after parking and waited for them to get far enough away. As they walked between the vehicles, they looked carefully inside to focus on those in which lumps could be seen from the outside.

At the time when the parking lot was left alone for a reasonable time, they took the opportunity to commit the robberies. Sometimes the authors were able to lower the windows by forcing the mechanisms, enough to be able to open the vehicles from the outside, but without breaking them. But if this system did not work, they did not hesitate to break the glass or force the bowler.

Once they entered the interior, they stole all valuables: mobile phones, electronic devices, watches, sunglasses, wallets, bank cards, cash, and even clothing. The stolen bank cards, before being discharged by the injured parties, were used by the authors to pay in different establishments in Benidorm back to the address where they were based in La Nucía, complicating with this long journey the location of their whereabouts.

The detainees are a married couple, a 37-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, who regularly reside in Seville, and settled in La Nucía, in the province of Alicante, during the summer season. Both have extensive records for crimes against property. In past summers they have already been arrested in Alicante for similar events. Specifically, the man was arrested in 2020 in Altea as the alleged perpetrator of 10 crimes of robbery with force inside a vehicle. Some of the crimes that appear in the history of both have been committed in the province of origin of him.

On this occasion, they are charged with 10 crimes of theft inside a vehicle, 6 of robbery with force inside a vehicle and 3 of fraud due to the fraudulent use of a credit card. On August 13, they were placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number 2 of Dénia, which has decreed freedom with charges for both.

Why don't they publish the photos and names of these thief characters in case we see them take care of us

  2. Juan says:

It is very convenient to know the law, to which judges must comply, to make comments of this type

    • There is everything says:

Sure, but you also have to know that there are judges who are looking for their lives to imprison these people, whatever "certain" laws say.
In the end it is a matter of empathy, if he wants a Judge that guy will never see the light of day again, it is already a matter of each one...
There are people imprisoned, years…, for having committed minor infractions and without being a repeat offender.
It is ALWAYS a question of the Judge, nothing else Your Honor.

Despite its limited staff, good for the Xabia civil guard.

  4. Luis says:

Repeat offenders and on the street… Everything in order. Who do judges work for?

  5. neighbor says:

Provisional release to those whose job is to STEAL, the Judge is very intelligent.
    Nothing else, Your Honor.
