The Carmen Alemany Bay Library in Pego will host the presentation of the book on September 27 at 19:30 p.m. Trench coats, by Sergi Durbà. The work pays tribute to the forgotten trinquets. These constructions are an emblem of each town that houses them and where Valencian society has woven its own sport over the centuries: Valencian pilota.
The author himself, the Councillor for Culture of Pego, Josep Mengual, the Sports Coordinator, Josep Llorca, and the editor, Núria Sendra, will participate in the presentation. The event promises to be full of memories to share.
Synopsis of 'Trinquets trencats'
The trinquets are the great forgotten ones of our towns, architectural jewels fallen into disgrace that, due to strange and capricious conjectures of uniformity, have reached this present wounded and with few possibilities of reviving their glorious times of stairs full and very colorful of fans.
Trench coats pays homage to spaces of popular reunion that accumulate as many beautiful and endearing stories as people could have forgotten, a whole set of overwhelming images typical of an era from which there remains what few want to see today: the remains of a worthy life representative of the heartbeat of authenticity.
There are many broken ratchets. Many. This book only approaches those that have opened their doors and that still breathe amidst urban rezoning and matters of dubious honesty, very capable of standing up despite the attacks of a modernity that withers and devours everything.
