Last week, the Michelin Guide delighted the gastronomic scene with its coveted Stars. But this autumn it is not the only entity that has made a move to put the spotlight on quality cuisine. The Repsol Guide has launched a new edition of its Soletes, this time called “Soletes con solera”.
«The same old thing is in fashion», begins the Guide explaining about the new recognitions, drawing attention to the roots, to the traditional and to «the flavours of a lifetime». The Soletes con solera want to «pay homage to the restaurants with roots, to the bars that could tell thousands of stories, to the traditional bakeries and to the families that have passed on the trade for generations until it became an institution».
In the tenth edition of the Soletes, more than 300 establishments have been recognized, including "legendary places that coexist with young businesses that look back and update recipes that are part of the country's history."
With this new edition, the region has seen three new Soletes shine since November. The first is in Benialí, in the Vall de Gallinera, with the restaurant L'aplec. The Repsol Guide defines the restaurant's offering as "homemade and traditional cuisine", where it recommends not missing the olleta de blat, very distinctive of the Valls de la Marina Alta. Another fact that the entity highlights in this edition is the year of inauguration of the establishments, referring to their "establishment". L'aplec was inaugurated in 1987.
The second new feature takes us to Pedreguer, where the Armell Restaurant is located. Founded in 1985, the Guide highlights that “this honest and simple restaurant is now in its third generation,” and promises to introduce diners to the traditional cuisine of the area.
Finally, the third long-standing establishment in the Marina Alta to receive a new Solete Repsol is Casa Rosita, located in Jesús Pobre. Once at its tables, the Guide recommends ordering rice with onion, cocas, figatells or meatballs, promising a "trip to the past" thanks to its traditional, home-made and simple cuisine.
