Ondara City Council has announced that, starting next Tuesday, October 22 at 08:00, changes will be implemented in the direction of traffic on several streets in the municipality with the aim of improving traffic and increasing road safety. This measure is a continuation of the initiative that began last May, when changes in the directions of some streets, such as in the Tossals area with Avenida Alicante and Avenida Marina Alta, resulted in a significant improvement in the flow of vehicles.
According to the mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, and the head of the Local Police, Toni Galiano, the next changes will be carried out in two key areas. Firstly, in the Marjals street, which will go from having a double meaning to one way, from Constitución Street towards Joan Gil Street.
Secondly, in the Caixa d'Estalvis area, Antonio Ramos C and Miguel de Cervantes streets will also undergo modifications. Both streets, which are currently two-way, will become one-way streets. Antonio Ramos C street will be one-way from the street Xàbia towards Oscar Esplà street, while the Miguel de Cervantes street will have a one-way traffic in the opposite direction, from Oscar Esplà street towards Xàbia street.
In addition to the changes in traffic direction, the signage on these streets will also be modified to make the new directions more visible, in order to make it easier for drivers to adapt.
These modifications, justified by the Municipal Technical Department and the Department of Citizen Security, respond to the need to improve road safety and optimize the use of streets in narrow sections, where coexistence with pedestrians requires a reorganization of traffic. The implementation of one-way instead of two-way streets was a request from the residents of these areas.
