The works for the future pump track (a circuit for riding a skateboard or bicycle) on Paseo Michel de Pego are already underway. This is a new leisure area that will expand the current skate park area, by increasing the dimensions available for practicing this activity. The new area will occupy an area of approximately 20 meters wide and 45 meters long. The circuit will be about 100 meters long and will have many of the characteristic elements of these spaces, such as banking, among others.
As this is a large-scale project, not only will the leisure complex be built, but the surrounding area where the pump track will be located will also be adapted. The work includes improvements to the pavement and coverings, carpentry work, review and improvement of street furniture, as well as the installation of new lighting in the area and the management of rainwater and sanitation.
As for the deadlines, the execution of the work is estimated to last two months. The project is financed by the Provincial Council of Alicante (Plan +Cerca 2023) with an amount of 210.727 euros.
"We believe that it is a very interesting project because many children, as well as young people, usually use the current skate park, and now we are equipping the space with another type of outdoor games," highlights the head of the Urban Planning department, Laura Castellà. "We are improving the public spaces of the municipality, bringing greater quality to Paseo Michel with the installation of this activity and youth games," adds the Councillor for Services and Urban Quality, Ricardo Sendra.
