Ximo Puig announces that the Valencian Community will receive 401.400 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 next week. This is the highest weekly shipment since the citizens' vaccination process began four months ago.
Good news that will accelerate the rate of administration of doses, said the president after visiting the mass vaccination point located in the facilities of the City of Light in Alicante. Specifically, the pharmaceutical company Pfaizer will send 187.200 doses; Astrazeneca, 168.000 doses; Moderna, 32.800 doses, and Jannsen, who guides a single inoculation, will send 13.400 vaccines.
These around 400.000 doses represent a quarter of all the doses that have been administered since, in early January, the population began to be vaccinated.
As Puig has detailed, in these 18 months 1.574.074 doses have been administered, with the following provincial distribution: 577.998 doses in Alicante, 185.716 doses in Castellón and 810.360 doses in Valencia.
In addition, there are 411.342 Valencians who already have the complete regimen, including people who have received the Janssen vaccine.
Leadership in the rate of vaccination
On the other hand, the rate of vaccination in the Community remains above the average for Spain: 92,7% of the doses received have been administered, compared to 88% on average. These figures are allowing the Community to lead, together with Andalusia, the rate of vaccination, according to the president.
Regarding people in nursing homes, almost 100% (99,8%) have already received one dose and 93% already have both. Likewise, 100% of older people over 80 have already received at least one dose and 90% are vaccinated with the full schedule. On the other hand, in the segment of the population between 70 and 79 years the coverage of a dose is 71,9%, and 5,8% of these people are vaccinated.
All these data - the president has remarked - allow us to ensure that progress is being made in the "great objective of reaching the summer in the best possible situation" to consolidate the economic and social recovery. In this regard, he has stressed that we are ready to reach June with all people over 60 years of age vaccinated with at least one dose.
Universalization of vaccines
The president has also insisted that vaccination is a fundamental asset for recovery and that it must be universalized. "In the face of a global pandemic, we must give a global response," defended the head of the Executive, who has announced that he will raise this demand again next week before the Committee of the Regions.
The person in charge of the Consell has indicated, on the other hand, that he trusts that the laboratories comply with their commitments and maintain the established supplies in the following weeks.
Puig thanked the vaccination teams for their professionalism and added that Valencian society "has demonstrated its great maturity, its great collective commitment" in compliance with health standards, which has allowed the Valencian Community to be the autonomy with the lowest incidence rate
