Ondara City Council has reported that this week the repair work on the retaining wall of the Mollons road, located on the banks of the Girona River, has been completed. The collapse of the wall caused the road to be closed last October due to landslides.
The Councillor for Infrastructure Maintenance in Ondara, Miguel Gomis, has indicated that the work has been carried out with the aim of minimising inconvenience to users and guaranteeing the safety of the infrastructure. He has also confirmed that, once the technical approval of the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ) has been received, the road, which connects the municipalities of Ondara and El Verger, has been completely reopened.
It should be remembered that at the end of October 2024, coinciding with the episode of heavy rains caused by the DANA, the Department of Citizen Security had to urgently close the Mollons road. The rainfall caused the collapse of a part of the retaining wall that separates the road from the riverbed, which made traffic dangerous due to the risk of landslides. The road was closed in the direction from El Verger towards Ondara, allowing access only to residents with extreme caution.
Finally, the City Council has confirmed that the CHJ, the body in charge of the solution, has carried out the repair work on the wall and the river bank, allowing the complete reopening of the road this week and guaranteeing the safety of vehicle passage.
