Last Friday, the Ondara Festivities and Traditions Council, headed by Jordi Ruiz, organised a meeting aimed at citizens and the Sant Jaume clubs in order to find out their opinions and present the results of the survey carried out to assess the 2024 festivities. The meeting, focused on the 2025 festivities, was valued very positively by the department due to the high participation of 25 clubs and the atmosphere of participatory and productive dialogue that was generated. According to the councillor himself, numerous realistic proposals were presented for the upcoming festivities.
Suggestions from the Sant Jaume de Ondara associations
During the meeting, attendees were invited to suggest possible improvements to the ordinance regulating the fiestas. Among the proposals to be considered are the modification of the ordinance, the possibility of applying discounts to the fee for the installation of bars on public roads, and the revision of the rates. This year, the final price for each club's consumption was 116 euros, a figure that, according to the organizers, has fostered greater awareness of the responsible use of resources and more efficient control of expenditure, especially on electricity and cleaning. It is worth mentioning that the fee, based on consumption last year, had been 160 euros.
Various proposals collected from the 234 participants in the post-Sant Jaume 2024 survey were also discussed. As for bullfighting events, a rethinking of schedules and some events was suggested. In the musical section, respondents requested an improvement in the quality of performances, the elimination of orchestra breaks during the week, and the organisation of nighttime musical groups in different areas of clubs. Other proposals included the return of the Grand Prix in the bullring, the continuation of the table football tournament and the sliding tracks (if there is no drought), as well as diversifying activities for different age ranges and organising nighttime events for children in the areas of clubs.
Regarding the area of bars, both members and citizens made contributions on the need to improve the closure of the O30 area to prevent the entry of cars, close Sant Jaume street when there is an orchestra so that vehicles do not circulate through the center of the town, and provide portable toilets or coordinate the opening of the Prado toilets throughout the night.
Finally, the Mayor's Office and the Participation Council proposed the creation of a Federation of Sant Jaume Supporters' Clubs or a similar organisation, with its own legal entity, to represent all the supporters' clubs and act as an intermediary with the Ondara Town Council. The proposal was well received by those attending.
