Puig will only invest 2,8% of the budget planned for the province of Alicante in the Marina Alta

November 22 from 2022 - 13: 13

The regional deputy of the Popular Party, Nando Pastor, denounced this Tuesday that the Government of Ximo Puig will only invest 2,8% of the total budget planned for the province of Alicante in the Marina Alta region. An amount, Pastor added, "that are crumbs and that represents almost 7 points less than the 10% of direct investments that would correspond to it according to population criteria."

Pastor, who has evaluated the accounts of the Consell in the Marina Alta together with the candidate for Mayor of XàbiaRosa Cardona, has regretted that in the north of the province "the discrimination suffered by the province at the hands of the socialist governments of Puig and Sánchez is accentuated."

“If six out of ten municipalities in the province do not receive investments from the Generalitat, in the case of the Marina Alta, only eight of the 33 municipalities will receive investments. That is to say, 76% of the municipalities are left out of the Ximo Puig accounts, despite the population weight of the region and its tourist importance”, the regional deputy remarked. In addition, he added, "of the 18 works contemplated, 12 are carried over from other years."

Pastor recalled that the province was already relegated to last place in the General State Budgets. "Then Puig promised us that he would personally correct Pedro Sánchez's disregard and gave us a halo of hope by saying that he would put 600 million on the table for the province." The surprise, Pastor pointed out, "has been that once the official documents and objective data have been analyzed, we can say that those 600 million have become only 360."

"Ximo Puig has lied to all of us in Alicante and once again has ignored us by promising investments that have later remained on paper, in smoke ahead of the elections."

For her part, Rosa Cardona, has lamented that next year "we will once again touch the stone of Ximo Puig's budgets given the low investments that the Generalitat plans to make in Xàbia". For this reason, the candidate for Mayor of Xàbia has announced a package of amendments for the construction of a health center in the l'Arenal area and for the expansion and rehabilitation of the Surco Building.

Cardona has also called for investments to double the entrance to Xàbia through the Camí de Cabanes, "since access to the town via the CV-734 has become impossible, with endless queues of cars every day." Amendments will also be presented to improve the sanitation of the town "and so that, once and for all, the necessary schools are built."

Cardona concluded by pointing out that "in the face of mistreatment and lack of investment from the socialist governments of Sánchez and Puig, the Provincial Council chaired by Carlos Mazón has always shown its outstretched hand to help small municipalities." He reminded Cardona that in the last year the investments of the Diputación through the
“Closer” program reached 6,9 million, compared to 2,1 for the Consell.
