Xaló once again celebrates its October Festival in honor of the Mare de Déu Pobra from October 14 to 18. To this end, an intense program of events has been designed with activities for residents and visitors to the municipality of La Valley of Pop.
Friday, October 14: Day of the Cocà and Nit de Rock
- 17:00 p.m. Ball game, modality galotxa, by the Club de Pilota Valenciana de Xaló on Canonge street in Pere Maurí.
- 20:30 a.m. Great Coke popular in Pla de la Séquia, Calle Mayor and Calle Alicante with wine offered by Bodegas Xaló and desserts by the MasyMas supermarket, enlivened by the Somnis group.
- 23:00 Rock Night with the performance of the groups: FUNKIWIS, LOS DE MARRAS AND NONAI SOUND DJ.
Saturday October 15: day of paella and quintadas
- 11:00 a.m. Discomobile for children in the Plaza de les Oques for boys and girls, subsidized by the Diputación de Alicante.
- 12:00 a.m. General ringing of the bells.
- 12:00 noon Concentration of farms in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Next, a parade of the quintadas accompanied by the charanga Festival Band of Xaló along the route of the correbars to the Plaza Mayor. At the end, tasting of Cazalla Anís Tennis in the Plaza Mayor.
- 14:00 p.m. Giant paella from the famous Casa Riquelme in the Plaza Mayor, where wine offered by Bodegas Xaló and beer and desserts offered by the Festival Commission of October 2022 will be served. The paella will be enlivened by the Xaló Festival Band brass band. Please do not put tables in the fenced area in front of the stage and at 16:30 p.m. remove the tables from Calle la Iglesia and Plaza Mayor.
- 17:00 p.m. Great game of pelota, modality raspall, of the Xaló Pilota Valenciana Club on Canonge Street in Pere Maurí.
- 23:00 pm Performance by the magnificent orchestra NO COMMENT. Then mobile disco Javi Mas in charge of the Mayorales 2023.
Sunday, October 16: ascent to Benibrahïm
- 11:00 am Cycling tour organized by the XALÓ CYCLING CLUB. The exit will be in the Plaza Mayor. At the end, all participants will be offered an appetizer in the Plaza Mayor.
- 12:00 pm Wine and vermouth tasting offered by Bodegas Xaló in the Plaza Mayor.
- 16:30 pm Gathering of mayorales and mayoralesas and the Xaló City Council by the Colla de dolçainers LA XOPENA D'ORBA.
- 17:00 a.m. General ringing of the bells.
- 17:30 p.m. Ascent to Benibrahïm from the Church, where the representation of the meeting of the Poor Virgin with Tío Canet, Martín Mestre Samper and M. Carmen Mestre Monserrat will take place, accompanied by the XALÓ MUSICAL FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION, by the group of dances LA MURTA, MANOLITA CASTELLS and the group of dolçainers LA XOPENA D'ORBA. When arriving at the Church, the offering of flowers will be made to the Poor Virgin and the joys will be sung. Everyone is asked to accompany the Poor Virgin during her tour through the streets of Xaló.
- 22:30 p.m. Performance by the orchestra LA TRIBU.
- 23:30 p.m. Chocolate and coca maria will be distributed to all attendees, offered by the Festival Commission of October 2022.
Monday, October 17: Mare de Déu Pobra day
- 09:00 a.m. Low Mass of the Poor Virgin.
- 11:00 am Gathering of mayoralesas and mayorales i MI Ayuntamiento de Xaló by the XALÓ MUSICAL FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION.
- 12:00 pm Solemn mass in honor of the Poor Virgin sung by the XALÓ CHOIR sponsored by the Mayorales and Mayoralesas of 2019. Next, the “Pa Beneït” will be distributed in the Plaza Mayor. At the end, a spectacular “mascletà” will be fired by CAVALLER FX pyrotechnics on the Assegador path.
- 19:00 p.m. Presentation of the boys and girls to the Virgen Pobre.re.
- 19:30 pm Solemn procession of the Poor Virgin led by the Colla de dolçainers LA XOPENA d'ORBA accompanied by the JALONENSE MUSICAL GROUP. Upon arrival at the Church, ONA CABRERA PUIGCERVER will recite the verse to the Poor Virgin and, later, the image will be raised to the main altar while the hymn to the Poor Virgin is sung. Next, a fantastic fireworks display will be shot off by CAVALLER FX pyrotechnics on the Assegador path.
- 23:00 p.m. Performance of the spectacular musical EL GRAN CABARET.
Tuesday, October 18: corsage and botifarrà day
- 09:00 a.m. General ringing of the bells.
- 11:00 a.m. Gathering of mayorales and mayoralesas and the MI Ayuntamiento of Xaló by the JALONENSE MUSICAL ASSOCIATION. JALONENSE MUSICAL GROUP.
- 12:00 pm Solemn mass in honor of the Poor Virgin sung by the XALÓ CHOIR. Next, the corsage will be placed on the new foremen and mayoralesas accompanied by the JALONENSES MUSICAL ASSOCIATION. JALONENSE MUSICAL ASSOCIATION.
- 18:45 pm Concentration of male and female dancers in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Accompanied by the xirimita and the drummer of the group LA XOPENA D'ORBA, they will go to the Plaza Mayor to dance the traditional dances.
- 20:00 p.m. Popular Botifarra in the Plaza Mayor with wine offered by Bodegas Xaló and enlivened by the duo Ximo & Rakel. hoisted by the duo Ximo & Rakel.
